Mullaithivu: the Reality

Here is a brilliant piece of journalism where a journalist, Mr. Muralidhar Reddy who works for 'The Hindu' from Colombo, gives a first person account of what he has seen in the areas captured by the Srilankan Army from the LTTE.

Mullaithivu was a ghost town. It was completely deserted when Sri Lankan army entered it. There was not a single resident in the whole town. It was similar to when the Sri Lankan army captured Kilinochchi on January 2.

He describes the towns and hamlets that have been evacuated by the LTTE and also explains how the ltte would have forcibly evicted the Tamil people from their towns and taken them along either as 'hostages or on their own. '

This proves wrong, in no less equivocal terms, the repeated claims/allegations by politicians from Tamilnadu, who keep on crying about what they call a humanitarian crisis that is underway because of the Army's so called Genocide against Tamils. True it is a humanitarian crisis. But one that is perpetuated by the LTTE that is using lakhs of unarmed, innocent Tamils as shield and taken them all hostage to save its own self from being decimated.
