- Establishing a world class research institute in Bangalore on climate, global warming issues etc.
- ISRO would be launching two satellites in 2010 and 2011 to measure and monitor green house gases.
- Implementing a bonus system to states called 'Green Bonus' for retaining and expanding green cover.
The said institute would be named “National Institute for Research on Climate and Environment” and would be built with an initial investment of Rs. 40 crore. The institute would build India's own capacity at understanding climate change issues better, whereas currently most information is dependent on the western countries.
The institute would be a joint initiative of the ISRO and the Ministry of Environment and Forests. (LINK)
