Operation Green Hunt will be a failure: says KPS Gill

In an interview with the Tehelka magazine, K.P.S Gill, one of the country's most decorated ex-cops, opined that 'Operation Green Hunt' launched recently to flush out maoists a sure-failure.

He has argued that use of indiscriminate force against the maoists in the jungles and far flung areas of Chattisgarh would only do more harm to the tribal community than good. Fighting the maoists based on instructions from babus based in New Delhi would not work, he says.

He also opined that the tribals have to be put on the development roadmap assuring them of access to education, health facilities and a greater share of local resources including strong ownership laws and only such positive development measures will wean them away from naxals.
